The elves come for war or wives. The choice will be hers. Luella's quiet village bears a heavy burden: once a generation, the Elf King crosses arrives from the realm of magic to take a bride, and prevent the breaking of a centuries-old treaty that keeps humanity from destruction.

This time, he's here for Luella. Independent, caring, and fiercely devoted to her people, Luella is content as the village herbalist. But when the king arrives - icy, proud, and dangerously handsome - everything changes.

But as her new powers stir within her, so does unexpected passion. And soon Luella will have to choose between her new kingdom - and her new husband - and the world she has always called home.
